المؤتمر البحثي التاسع بجامعة صحار يؤكد دور البحث العلمي في دعم الاقتصاد المعرفي

أطلقت جامعة صحار يوم أمس الأربعاء ١١ فبراير ٢٠٢٦م بالحرم الجامعي ، أعمال المؤتمر البحثي التاسع (SURC9)، بمشاركة نخبة من الباحثين والأكاديميين والخبراء من مختلف القطاعات، وذلك في إطار حرص الجامعة على تعزيز منظومة البحث العلمي والابتكار، وترسيخ شراكاتها الاستراتيجية مع المؤسسات الوطنية والدولية. رعى حفل الافتتاح سعادة الشيخ سالم بن حمد بن سالم المحروقي عضو مجلس الشورى ممثل ولاية أدم.
واستهل المؤتمر أعماله بكلمة ترحيبية قدّمها الدكتور حمدان بن سليمان الفزاري، رئيس جامعة صحار، استعرض خلالها أبرز ملامح التقدم البحثي في الجامعة، مؤكدًا التزامها بدعم البحوث التطبيقية التي تسهم في خدمة المجتمع وتحقيق مستهدفات التنمية المستدامة. كما تحدث البروفيسور كيلفن بواليا مدير عام تطوير البحوث بالجامعة عن أبرز محاور المؤتمر البحثي التاسع بجامعة صحار.
وتضمّن برنامج المؤتمر كلمة افتتاحية: لميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة، ألقاها الدكتور عبدالله سليمان العبري نائب الرئيس للاستدامة بميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة، سلّط خلالها الضوء على دور الميناء والمنطقة الحرة في دعم المنظومة البحثية وتعزيز التكامل بين القطاعين الأكاديمي والصناعي.
كما شهد المؤتمر حديث الفاضلة رحمة البدري مشرف مختبر أول للبحث والتطوير بمختبرات جريس العالمية والتي مقرها جامعة صحار حول آفاق التعاون البحثي بين مختبرات غريس وجامعة صحار، وأهمية الشراكات الصناعية في تطوير حلول مبتكرة ومستدامة.
وتوزعت أعمال المؤتمر على يومين، تخللهما جلسات متوازية بلغ عددها 6 جلسات في المجالات البحثية التالية: التواصل المجتمعي، التقانة الناشئة والمتقدمة، الاستدامة البيئية، الصناعة وريادة الأعمال ، و المخرجات البحثية للطلبة. حيث طرح من خلالها 142 ورقة عمل على مسارين حضوري وعن بعد شارك فيها نخبة من الباحثين من 18 دولة : سلطنة عمان ، المملكة المتحدة ، ماليزيا ، باكستان وغيرها.
ويجدر الاشارة إلى أن المؤتمر يمتد على مدار يومين متتاليين. حيث يشهد اليوم الثاني أيضاً استمرار الجلسات المتوازية.
ويأتي تنظيم المؤتمر البحثي التاسع تجسيدًا لرؤية الجامعة في بناء بيئة بحثية محفزة، وتعزيز التعاون مع القطاعات الحيوية، بما يسهم في إيجاد حلول علمية مستدامة تخدم المجتمع وتواكب تطلعات سلطنة عُمان نحو اقتصاد قائم على المعرفة والابتكار.

The Ninth Research Conference at Sohar University Highlights the Role of Scientific Research in Supporting the Knowledge Economy

Sohar University yesterday, Wednesday, 11 February 2026, launched the activities of the Ninth Sohar University Research Conference (SURC9) at its campus, with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers, academics, and experts from various sectors. The conference reflects the University’s commitment to strengthening the research and innovation ecosystem and fostering strategic partnerships with national and international institutions. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Salim bin Hamad bin Salim Al Mahrouqi, Member of the Shura Council.
The conference commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Hamdan bin Sulaiman Al Fazari, Vice Chancellor of Sohar University, who highlighted the University’s key research achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting applied research that contributes to community service and the achievement of sustainable development goals. Professor Kelvin Bwalya, Director of Research Development at the University, also spoke about the main themes of the Ninth Sohar University Research Conference.
The conference program included an opening address by Sohar Port and Freezone, delivered by Dr. Abdullah Sulaiman Al-Abri, Vice President for Sustainability at Sohar Port and Freezone. In his speech, he emphasized the role of the port and freezone in supporting the research ecosystem and enhancing integration between the academic and industrial sectors.
The conference also featured a presentation by Ms. Rahma Juma, Senior Lab Supervisor for Research and Development at Grace Laboratories International, head quartered at Sohar University. She discussed prospects for research collaboration between Grace Labs and Sohar University and highlighted the importance of industrial partnerships in developing innovative and sustainable solutions.
The conference activities were spread over two days, featuring 6 parallel sessions, held both face to face and virtually, with the participation of distinguished researchers from 18 countries. The sessions addressed 142 research papers in the fields of connecting communities, Emerging and advanced technology, Environmental sustainability, Enterprise and Industry, and students research output.

It is worth noting that the conference extends over two consecutive days, with the second day featuring several parallel sessions.

The organization of the Ninth Research Conference reflects the University’s vision of building a stimulating research environment and strengthening collaboration with key sectors, contributing to the development of sustainable scientific solutions that serve society and align with the Sultanate of Oman’s aspirations toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
